What service does your agency offer?

The YOT Substance Misuse Worker aims to offer a service to young offenders and young people at risk of offending who are concerned about their own or someone else’s drinking or drug use; or would like information on alcohol and drug use. We offer:

• Assessment
• Onward referral to appropriate services
• Information
• Drop-in
• Educational workshops
• Counselling

Who can contact your agency?

Anyone can contact the service. Young people can contact us directly but are usually referred from the courts or via a third party such as social services, education services, etc.

What age range of clients does your agency provide a service to?

We provide a service to young people aged 10-17.

Which geographical areas within Newport does your agency operate?

The service covers all areas throughout Newport, working from a base in Ringland. Home visits are also offered.

What happens when someone first contacts you?

An appointment is offered within 1 week of the referral. The purpose of the appointment is to allow an opportunity to discuss experiences of drugs and alcohol in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
