Being a carer can be very difficult at times – and there are particular challenges if you are a young carer. Read on for sources of support, information and advice.
Being a carer can be tough, whatever age you are, but it can be especially tough when you are young as young carers can have the same amount of responsibility as an older carer, but what they do isn’t always recognised. In addition, young carers can experience problems at school – for example, they might find it difficult to find time time to do all their homework. Some young carers find it hard to join in with their friends and don’t have time to do some of the the fun things other young people might be doing. Indeed some young carers worry about the future or what will happen to their family, they might be worried about money or just have too much to cope with.
There are a number of young carers groups in South Wales where young carers can get together with people in a similar situation, get support or just get some advice over the phone.
